Have you ever lived in a city or spent significant time and been surprised at how white or blue-collared the city was compared to what you originally thought?

I was surprisd at some of cities in the Great Plains. Cities like Sioux Falls, Fargo, Des Moines, and Omaha were definitely more white-collar than I expected. A lot of people unfamiliar with the region think all they do is farm and grow crops in those places.

As for surprisingly blue-collared, I guess I was a bit surprised at Houston. I had this image of wealthy oil owners and rich Texans in general. And while there is the wealthy side of Houston, it is not overall.
