Impressive Pittsburgh photos! Do you know in which areas those were taken?
Thanks! I have hundreds of them...the first two pics are from Allegheny West on the North Side. The second two are the Mexican War Streets on the North Side.
ainulinale those are cool shots of all the rowhomes! No such thing here.
I have to know why that is their name.
Thanks! Yeah, the North Side of Pittsburgh has some of the nicest rowhouses in the city.
Do you mean the name: "Mexican War Streets?" It is named that way because that part of the city (which was Allegheny at the time) was created in 1849 by General William Robinson Jr. after he returned from the Mexican-American War. He later became the mayor of the city of Allegheny, and, filled with patriotism, decided to name the streets after the various battles and generals of that war. The streets now carry names such as: Buena Vista Street, Filson Way, Monterey Street, Palo Alto Street, Resaca Place, Sherman Avenue, Taylor Avenue.
