We have always gone to Tybee, which is fine, but today we went to St. Simons, and it was nicer. The sand is finer, and there is no charge to park. You can include Hilton Head, too, if it's your favorite.

What beach do you like the best?

I love nearly all beaches anywhere , but here in Georgia my favorites would have to be -
1) Sapelo Island - nothing like having an entire beach all to yourself. It is an amazing place to visit and stay (no paved roads, only access to the island is by boat-either ferry or private boat, )

2) Jekyll Island - family friend and beautiful.

3) Sea Island is another that I love to visit when I can.

If we're limiting the criteria to strictly the beaches (excluding nearby amenities) I would have to say Cumberland Island because of it's unspoiled beauty.
If we're looking at the surrounding community as well, I would have to say my own.

When I see Georgia I see Mountains Atlanta and Farms. FLORIDA IS BEACHES to me, just saying but continue the conversation, don't go side track on me.

Sadly, the Georgia coast is an afterthought to many Georgians as well. And I really can't blame them. Why drive 5 hours from Atlanta to Tybee Island when in the same amount of time you can get to Destin, Fort Walton or Gulf Shores -- among the most beautiful beaches in the world?

Seriously, what is this image of "farms"? The state of Georgia has far less farmland than practically any southeastern state, and far below as a percentage most states in the nation.

Georgia is one of the most LUSHLY Forested states in the nation. No one ever says, "I think of the forests", despite that when flying over Georgia, it looks like a massive wilderness in many ways.

Actually, Tybee and Hilton Head, SC are a good bit closer than those gulf coast beaches. Panama City is closer to Atlanta than those gulf coast beaches, and even it is not as close as Tybee.

By the way, if Tybee or Georgia paid money to dump white sand on its beaches, it could have white sand too.

Tybee, for sure, trucks in sand. I do not think St Simons does. We enjoy Tybee because it is only a half hour from home, and has an unspoiled charm, but we thought the sugary sand and free parking were awesome at St Simons. Next time, well try Jekyll Island.

Actually Tybee is renourished from sand off shore. It is pumped in, not trucked in.

Sure, Tybee could waste good money to truck in that white sand from the Gulf, but as soon as a storm hits, it'll just wash it out to sea and be replaced with what was there before.

If I was merely limited to the Georgia coast, I would have to go with Cumberland Island.
