Sports distribution center to bring jobs to Twiggs

By Jennifer Burk - jburk@macontel.com
One of the nation's largest sporting goods retailers plans to break ground on a new distribution center in Twiggs County this fall, pending government approval.

Academy Sports & Outdoors plans on locating its 750,000-square-foot center at Interstate 16 and Ga. 96, outside Jeffersonville, the company announced. It expects to invest $50 million in development and add more than 200 jobs to the area, according to a news release.

The center is expected to begin operations in early 2009.

Academy Sports & Outdoors was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 1938 and is headquartered outside of Houston.

Warner Robins is a wonderful place to live! Growing, lively, great schools, kind people, multicultural, family friendly, great location, growing job opportunities, good home prices, etc.

Shopping centers are popping up all over the place, it is ridiculous...

So if you love shopping, you are gonna go nuts over Warner Rob!

Thanks everyone for the info. Does anyone have thoughts about the Eagle Springs development in Centerville? We are retirees and don't mind children within the development. Housing seems great and shopping close by plus close to Atlanta doctors for my rare disease. But what is the Homeowners Association like. Georgia laws aren't very strict, so I worry about another restricted covenant community. Is the association turned over to the homeowners? Amenities are great for the price. Like what I see, but HELP. Thank you

Default Eagle Springs

I'm pretty sure the homeowners run the homeowner's association. Association fee is $720 per year. Eagles Springs is a great community. I know of several homes for sale and I have a great builder with one lot available in Eagle Springs. Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to go look at some homes.
