Ok, here's my story. I'll try to keep it short, but also try to give you enough info so you can help me.

I graduated from college last year. I'm 22, and I'm a singer-songwriter. I've lived in my hometown my entire life, including college, and I'm looking to get away for a few months. At first I wanted to go to a bigger city, (Chicago, NY, etc.), but someone recently suggested Athens, GA because the people there are relatively young, rent is affordable, and there is a good music scene. Is this true?

Would I be able to find an affordable place with cool people, and would I be able to play my music around town easily?

Anything will help!

Thanks!

Yes to all. That's what they do there. Have fun.

Summer is a probably a good time to pick up an inexpensive place and to meet people because many of the students are gone.

Athens is an awesome city. It's the definition of a college town. It's only 45 minutes to Atlanta too. So you have the city at your fingertips, but don't have to deal with the crazy traffic on a daily basis. Downtown Athens has a huge bar/music scene. It can kind of crazy during the fall & spring, but summer is much more relaxed. I loved living there during college & would move back in a heartbeat. Definitely check it out. If you're looking for affordable housing check out east Athens and Normal Town.
