Well we are also looking for information on Suwanee, GA, we have a 5 year old, and everything I read about that area so far is amazing, after our trip in September I guess we will know more. My husband is High Tech Management and I'm a Chef/Baker, so the area is good for both of us. If your high tech it's very strong in the .net groups, other areas are strong also, but I'm learning that high-tech has it's grouped areas, like CA seems to be hot on Java...
I read the schools are good, the people are friendly, weather is better than here, some culture, restaurants, activities, live free concerts in the City parks, it's know for being green with ecco-projects that sound wonderful, I love the idea of living around others who care about the environment, cost of living looks great compared to here in NJ/NY, was rated the top 10 places to live in 2007; if you didn't know already.
If you have found out more perhaps you will post back and keep us informed too.
Where are you moving from?
The good thing is I cant find bad things written about this area, but I don't find much either period, I guess that's a good thing, here you will find 100's of post of how everyone wants to leave this NJ/NY area. So perhaps little news is good news..
We are in NJ/NY area, cant wait to see the area there in Suwanee the end of September.
Good luck..

I have read all of your posts. They are, indeed, negative. If the Atlanta area is so bad, why are you still there? Delta is ready!!!

Well all information is appreciated, so thanks , and most opinions probably have some truth to them; however, it's not very helpful regardless of the intent to read comments like "don't do it the unemployment is high and schools are the worst" if someone has more first hand details please give them, unemployment is high everywhere, city cut backs are everywhere too, and most public schools are lacking regardless of the high ratings they might receive; Suwanee by the way is rated high, but so are most Northern NJ schools, and I have found that it's very individual here in NJ, there are many who beg to differ about good and bad comments, but real life debates and information should be followed with real life experiences and examples not just statements like "don't", I have discovered with my son's age of 5 what seems to matter is a good teacher in a decent neighborhood, money does rule this world still, lower income areas suffer; unfortunately!
Everyone I know here in NJ/NY has cut backs, lay offs and or salary cut stories from their own experience or through a close friend or relative, but everyone also has a story of success; keeping their jobs, raises, promotions, success or something positive. I'm sure the same will apply in any large city. Atalanta area is huge!
What we are looking for is a group of people are general nice, friendly, and not as superficial as they appear here, I say appear because most here are just too busy to be nice, if you get to know them; they are fine people; therefore we are looking for an area that just might have time to say good morning even if unemployment is high.
I was told GA was a friendly place, slower place than NJ/NY, I was raised in the South, even spending quite a bit of time in GA with fond memories, I discovered that Southern hospitality really used to be real, and was wondering if it was still real? (as I have been out of the US for more than 10 years)
Lets hope our economy rises to a better place we all deserve it, America is a wonderful place and many who has traveled outside of it, would agree possibly quicker than others who have not; no where in the world is better, maybe equal but not better. So if anyone can help us get to know the people in GA, then it would be great to hear from you.
