When I first heard about Sears closing my thought has been that PREIT incentivized them leaving. That location is 330k sf. That's the largest department store in MI outside of Metro Detroit. PREIT has been pretty agressive about keeping Woodland relevant. I'm glad to see them redoing the Sears wing. It'll be a big shot in the arm to keep Woodland geared to the areas more upscale shopping.

Sears was quite literally the only store that I ever patronized at Woodland mall. Oh well I guess I'll be buying my tools else where.

Ever since they merged with Kmart the quality of the tools weren't the same.

They both went into receivership before the brands were merged by Ed Lampert. The brands have never been the same.

The last time I went in that store was during this past summer. It was just very outdated and tired looking. The shopping experience wasn't the greatest either. Woodland will be better off with something new in that spot.

That's what the Woodland owners are hoping too.

Von Maur is a great store. I worked for them many years ago in Iowa, and they were terrific employers. Of course, I worked for them just at the beginning of their great expansion, so a lot may have changed. I really enjoyed my experience with them.

Woodland Mall's owner to spend $100M on remodel | MLive.com

PREIT spending $100million on Woodland refresh. That's a decent chunk of change on a mall remodel. I don't see how Woodland doesn't officially take back the crown of the area's high end mall from Rivertown. Especially with it being next to the high end suburbs.

I always felt woodland was still more high end than rivertown I was there in December and I remembered why I never liked rivertown it feels sterile and blah. And woodland feels more lively. Just my opinion though.
