Last question-- I promise! I am wondering if anyone here has information on the Christian schools in the area, specifically the Grand Rapids Christian school system and Ada Christian School. We sent in a request for information and will be seeking part time enrollment (art classes, sports, etc.). I was wondering if anyone knows something about them that isn't posted on the website: cliquey families? cliquey students? competitive parents? do they all attend the same school? how are the academics? how strong is the Christian influence?

Oh, c'mon... a lot of the Christian schools around Grand Rapids are really good. Great education, nice people. I don't think the OP was looking to be talked into a different educational philosophy.
I wish I could help you OP, but I don't really know the answers to your specific questions. Just that I know a few people who have very good experiences with Christian schools around GR, including GR Christian High.

A good majority of people I see that have come out of Christian High or South Christian either do not believe in God anymore or are very luke warm. I hear teenage pregnancy is an issue at South. The public schools in GR are awesome... Forest Hills, Northview, EGR, Rockford... and they all have a good chunk of solid Christians. I have gone to public and private school... The most I was on fire for God was when I was in a public school.

My 4 kids go to Ada Christian. We love it. I know lots of people who go to Grand Rapids Christian and Northpointe Christian. I would be happy to tell you more. We get financial assistance, so families from all econimic groups attend.
