My fallback gift has always been quality slippers... its something that people always enjoy and appreciate VERY much, but ALWAYS forget to get for themselves. An older woman like your Grandmother would definitely appreciate some nice supportive ones too.. I've always like the ones from daniel green: Daniel Green Slippers Official Site - L.B. Evans & Woolrich Footwear .

NEVER underestimate comfortable footwear

Have a calender made with grandkid or family pictures...any photo developing place can do this. Each month she will have a new picture to cherish. Or a framed family picture in a really nice frame.

Order a year of indoor potted blooming flowers delivered every month (I have ordered from the Plow and Hearth catalog). I believe they also do 6 months. They deliver flowers in the beginning stages of bloom.

I have also given Omaha Steaks (they ship them).

A locket with your pic or or kids picture in it.

I always gave my grandma stamps and she loved them. It was something I knew that she would use and she was on a limited income. If you go to www.usps.gov and shop online you can pick out unusual stamps that she wouldn't find at the grocery store.
