So, I received this email from adt today:

'Stay protected and connected. National wireless phone companies are phasing out their older communication networks. Since the security service in your home will soon be affected by these changes, your timely attention is needed. Your security communicator needs to be replaced.'

It's telling me that I NEED to upgrade to ADT pulse...but I don't see the point in doing so. I didn't think an alarm company could MAKE you upgrade your current, working for you just fine system. This seems to be a way for them to get more money out of the customers forcefully.

It also states that pretty much all wireless companies are doing this. Has anyone else received this notification? Thanks

My mother received the same email today. I just chatted with an ADT representative online and this is the answer I received:

"Due to some changes made to networks by wireless companies, your current 2G cellular communicator must be replaced with a new, updated model to maintain your current level of service. This change can be made at no cost to you."

Hopefully my mother won't get a hard sell on the Pulse system when she calls to get the update. I'm not clear how the wireless network is related to security system. I assumed it was connected to a land-line, but I guess I'm not sure about that.
