I'm kinda on the fence. Economically, I think open borders would be great. However, there are social and environmental factors in opening the floodgates of the world's population.
No. Part of being a sovereign nation is determining who you will and will not allow to enter your country. If we throw open the gates to any and all, we cease being in charge of our own destiny and instead just drift along in whatever direction our "guests" want to take us.
Open borders would not do anything but massively move the have not to the have countries. In a world where the have not rely on many things from have not who knows what it would create I further problems not being able to be addressed.

Economists and visionaries agreed that open borders will stimulate US economy and will create millions of quality jobs. Even John Lenon wrote that song - "Imagine". He imagined 18M illegal immigrants that bring bliss to US. And that is nothing compared to the bliss we'll experience with open borders. Lets see the government printing food stamps for 180M...
But accoring to the theory, immigrants will invest heavily in our economy. What's not clear about that?

Wait! We don't have open borders now? Could have fooled me.
That's what I thought. With orders to the Border Patrol not to stop anyone. They are still surging across the border from Mexico. They are coming, in their words, to "get the amnesty." They are already able to live here more comfortably than a lot of citizens, without ever having to work a day in their lives, then retire and take our SS that we've worked for! Lets not forget the Cubans. One foot on our land, and they collect welfare too. Muslims come over and get on welfare. To tell you the truth, I don't know how we already take care of all of these people! And, we taxpapers are the ones taking care of them. When they need more money, it's the middle income taxpayers who get hit. Meanwhile, we have older American citizens who have to decide whether to eat or buy their medicine. They don't get all of this help. You won't see an illegal going hungry, or sick.
Shortly after our potus whipped out his magical executive pen, he decided to also allow the same benefits the illegals get to these "Americans in Waiting." That's why they are able to get free medical care.
One time a woman posted a letter here on City Data, who was from Cuba, and now lived in Florida, and she wanted us to sign a petition to Obama, saying the illegal Cubans were getting less of the freebie benefits that the illegals coming through the south border were getting, and it wasn't fair!
Whats funny is that most of the illegals hate Americans and don't want us to interfere with their cultures. Americans are about to become a minority in America. Little do the illegals realize that they are going to have to get jobs so they can take care of their own. Lets see how much they complain then!

Why would we do that?! Do you remember how the 9/11 terrorists got in? There's a very good reason the borders aren't open.
You need to flesh out your OP, so that we can understand why you're asking this question, and what the pros and cons are that you see. Otherwise, your post doesn't make sense. This is the Great Debates forum. You're not supposed to just post a simple question without elaborating the issue.

Now why have we seen stagnated and a steady decreasing of wages and high unemployment in the last 10 yrs. or so that we have seen such an increase in illegal immigration?
