Some countries are overpopulating the earth but The U.S. isn't one of them. Why don't you deal with the truth which is the people in this world that should pro-create are having less than two children per couple but it's the people that are least qualified on the planet that keep having children or too many children.
Yankeemama. I am talking about environment. Even you would live in your house forever all things you buy are coming from somewhere. Waste is also going into somewhere.
People are good at saying "That is not my fault" , "I am just buying it, someone else did that"
If people would check into industry and not close their eyes.. No factory is rounding if someone does not buy, it runs into its end.
Aluminium, seek how much aluminium is at your home, food and drink wrappings, kitchen, electricity, deodorant, shots, etc, You just buy and use it, easy, you have not done anything? Wrong. By choosing aluminium you support aluminium industry http://www.hydro.com/upload/Our%20fu...nt_509x200.jpg this is what you have done
And don't say we don't do this because we live in other countries, where most of te clothing and furnitores and electricity iscoming from? From overseas most of because it was cheaper to produce all the unnecessary crap there and leave them alone with environment causes. http://waterpollutionproblemz.weebly...82/5822345.jpg
It is we all if we don't happend to live naked in woods. Or if we don't seek every each item that we buy and make sure it is safe for environment.
Peope are able to close their eyes from this. But what you leave behind you will find it front of you later. So your every each action counts for your becoming kids and grandkids.
What they are going to eat? What they are going to drink? What did you do in your daily life to make sure they have fresh air to breath too?
You can deny it but it does not free you from the pollutions that you at your lifetime and by your choosings caused. It is all there, you just want to pretend it was not you, it was everyone else or "factory", there are no factory without people giving money for them to continue and make them succesful.
Study the chain of every product that you are using from beginning to end. Chain of a one product could be incredible long and destroying. That what is inside a chain is what you leave to your kids.
This is what I meant in my former post.

By this measure you should take action to remove your own consumption from the planet.
I don't celebrate that I'm child free. I was given this as a result of circumstance.. I'm introverted and women do not approach me and I do not approach them. I would like children but modern society and modern women can't really be trusted and get bored and flighty too easily. They are all stuck on their facebook, glued to their smartphone, constantly gossiping and looking to trade up to other guys who are less boring and looking to live a lifestyle portrayed in their favorite movie, chick flick, or soap opera.
I don't put down others for their choice to have kids. Many are really in such a state of joy about their life situation it's hard to not want to show it off to the world that one is happy. Miserable people don't like this of course.
My wife of 23 years and myself consider it a celebration of not having children by traveling abroad each year and enjoying obtaining knowledge of the world and it's many fascinating subjects.
We are indifferent to children. We don't hate them and rarely think about them.
We both had wonderful childhoods and we both love our parents.
Everyday of broadening ones horizons intellectually is unto itself a celebration.
By this measure you should take action to remove your own consumption from the planet.
That's what not having kids does.
It seems the "older" posters are better "at peace" with not having kids. I imagine that my own passions on the subject will calm down a bit after I pass the childbearing age and all the crap that surrounds it.
Hopefully the passive-aggressive comments from new moms such as "my life never had meaning before I had a little Jonny" will then cease. "Friends" won't be pestering me that I will of course "change my mind." I won't have to endure "oooing and ahhhing" over things that I don't care about at baby showers (although I do admit that clothes for little humans are toats adorb.) And my work peers and supervisees will no longer mostly be new moms. The obligatory "happy baby" Christmas cards will change to theme I actually care about.
Yes, I do understand the joys of parenthood. I have a very lovely child, who is wonderful. However, my life is not my own anymore. I have to consider my child's needs as well as my own.
Child free people can be selfish and do whatever they want. Skip meals, eat frosting out of a can, drink however much they want, stay up all night by choice and sleep in, buy random things for themselves, make impulsive travel plans, watch or read r rated stuff, and have relations in the living room mid day.
See, it's this mentality that REALLY bothers me.
How is it "selfish?" to not contribute to more pollution of the planet? The reasons for having biological children are inherently selfish- to pass on your genes.
To be "selfish" requires another person involved. If not, it is just "self." There is no selfish party in a party of one.
I do all of those things above that you mentioned and them some. There's nothing selfish about it because it does not come at the expense of "another self" because I chose not to make one and thus your children have better job opportunities, lower real estate cost, etc.
I'd like to start a national holiday for people without mustaches or for people without dogs. The cards would read, "Thank you for not allowing your annoying dog to poop in my yard" or "Congratulations on your clean shaven face."
Seriously, if you don't have kids, good for you. If you do have kids, good for you. If you have an annoying dog and a mustache, good for you.

People do both of the bolded statements with children. In fact, my son has greatly expanded my intellectual horizons.
It's fine to choose to be child-free but there's no need to use inaccurate statements to try to justify what is in fact a personal preference.
Celebrate however you wish for whatever you wish. I'm completely indifferent to Mother's Day. I don't need a special day to feel appreciated; an impromptu expression of love and gratitude from my children means far, far more to me than one forced by the calendar.
