Feminism is the belief that women are human beings, equal to men. Deserving of the same rights, the same pay levels, the same access to health care and opportunities.

I can't understand how someone, especially a woman, would not be a feminist! Why start from the notion that you are LESSER than a man?

No one, man or woman, that I know does think that women are less.

The problem I have with those spouting to be "feminists" is they want preferential treatment. They want the respect and wages that come with jobs some see at non-traditional for women without doing to work. They want kudos for being able to work a job and keep their family fed. Bunk! That is simply life.

Someone, a few pages back, termed them neo-feminists. The ones that bother me sure aren't strong self-sufficient women. Maybe they are the weak neo-feminists.

Years ago I read Margaret Mead's ideas on biological vs cultural femininity. I like those who are biologically feminine. They achieve. The ones who squawk the loudest now, it seems, don't fit that ideal.

I've found that a lot of women who say they are feminists, do not accept a woman choosing to be a stay at home mother, or a woman who takes her husband's name upon marriage. And although they are entitled to their beliefs, some would even go so far as to cut down and criticize women who did these things.

I also believe women hold each other back, but blame the "patriarchy" when they don't get a job, a promotion or anything else they want. Women either backstab each other, or simply fail to support each other. I've attended networking events where over 90% of the people there were men, getting to know each other, shaking hands and trading business cards. Hardly a woman in sight. Why?

That is the hardline ones, there are always some who are any side of ANY political divide. I am a male but I am egalitarian. I hold doors to help women and men. When I get married, I actually want to change our last names to be a combo of the two if they work. I really wish women had to apply for selective service as men do. I mean being equals mean you take the good with the bad right? I can't stand the uber-feminists that talk about "rape culture" in anything (namely strip clubs, porn and voluntary prostitution), even with consenting adults.

Default Feminism is in my DNA.

The list is too long.

All I know is that I was aware that I was at least as good as boys, was usually smarter than them, etc. from as early as I can remember, certainly before elementary school. I'm sure feminism is just part of my DNA.

When I attended Bible study and there was talk of "women's role" and "men's role" and that women were subordinate, I'm sure my eyes rolled.

I was actually offended when I was given a baby doll that needed to be fed and I think it wet, too. I did not play with it.

Then when Barbie came into fashion, I looked at it and noticed the ridiculous body proportions and would not play with that one, either.

I never liked expectations being placed on me that were not my own.

Now that I look back on it, I think it has to do with justice. There is no justice in women being subordinate to men.

FEMINISM = JUSTICE = EQUALITY

Why is feminism the only philosophy where a handful of jerks are allowed to define the entire group?
