As the Republican governor of Florida has suggested, one police officer per 1,000 students.

Broward County Sheriff promised AR-15 armed guards at the schools Monday. There are 310 schools in the district. 271,000 students if you work that way.
310 x $15 x 8 is $37,200 per day. For real effectiveness this would be two shifts per day.
160 school days, = $11,900,000 per year. plus 310 guard shacks with metal detectors . . .?
"Just saying"

I do not see how militarizing the school system with what are basically mercenaries and vigilante militias will do anything but create problems. Who is this 'militia' accountable to?

We'll end up with another disastrous Blackwater situation.

Military families need to stop acting like police. Citizens need to stay away from the *** rednecks that think they're higher than law enforcement and know everything. For instance...I am a citizen of the U.S.A. and knocked on the door of my previous residence to ask if I had received any mail. Had the law called on me. By an alleged military official. I am a citizen; so what. Answer your doors being your home. Talk about conspiracy last time I was there I was target practicing. Next time I am going to find a "Desert Storm" hat and make claims; stealing valor. I am for the "Second Admendment". I am not for 18 year old sales. Just because they can serve, shoot and kill oversees. 21 with mental health evaluation; ID. Also lock up your guns and do not sell. Like how many guns does a person need to have? Der der der. Watch "That's My Boy" absolutely what is happening MY BETS.

It is ridiculous to stereotype teachers incompetent as defenders. The one thing worse than a teacher pulling a gun and shooting at a threat is a teacher with no possible chance to save his students or self. You like many, reflect the nonsensical ideology that only government officers can effectively use a gun for defense. Very sad.
And, asking teachers to be amateur cops is putting on them a huge liability. I suggest raising those teachers' pay by the same amount it would cost to hire a cop. In other words, just hire a cop.

Quit being cheap. Hire cops. It's already done in good school districts.

Unfortunately there are too many gun owners who do fall into that category. Many are posting right on this forum.

Has it occurred to you that there's virtually no posts actually suggesting that in all the posts on this forum surrounding the general topic. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

"Personnel matters are complicated"
Leave the logistics aside. Its psychologically striking a fear on criminals minds. Majority of normal People behave differently when they know someone is watching, let alone criminals. ALso they aren't governed like Police and do not have to worry about political correctness or backlash.
