We are really going to compare Doctors and nurses who make high salaries with soldiers in war that make half or less than half what a nurse probably makes?

What does the debt forgiveness accomplish exactly OP? Doctors and nurses are still working correct? Why do they need the debt forgiving?

If you borrow money you should have to pay it back in full. If you borrowed too much, you can declare bankruptcy like anybody else and get a huge ding in your credit.
Besides, a nursing degree is usually not that much if you go about it the smart way and what they make an hour easely can afford that.

Let's just have adopt a student loan and those who want can feel free to pay off someone else's loan.

Excellent idea. Then people can show their true values and I'll be the first to praise whoever decides to take over someone else's loan who they've never met. Let those who advocate loan forgiveness for these workers put their money where their mouth is, or not.

On one hand I see where the OP is coming from for the simple fact that the government has bailed out BIG companies that will be doing just fine. If big companies can keep getting bailed out, then pay for their debt.At the same time, you'll have to do that for any other group of people who have risky jobs that require putting their lives on the line. Being a healthcare worker is an admirable thing but just because you're a healthcare worker doesn't mean you're even a good one.

Most of the "bailout" in 2008 was in the form of loans and the Treasury actually was repaid more than it lent. And everyone likes to villify corporations but they don't mind cashing the paychecks that they provide for millions of jobs. But I would agree that too much assistance is focused on big corporations. However, when we see govt throwing around money foolishly to one group, the solution is to stop throwing money around foolishly to that group not start throwing money around foolishly to other groups as well.
