If it flares up again, they will have no other choice but to close everything down again.

I simply want a functional balance of safety and economic activity. The long-term can't consist of anything else. It may be an actuarial issue in practice, and one that requires a population-wide commitment to embracing modifications of human behavior. It is what it is. The alternatives are clearly worse as far as I can tell.

That's the rub as I see it. Where I am I see plenty of examples of people who haven't altered their behavior at all, except as forced to by rules being enforced by local businesses. And plenty of those businesses are/were being lax about their own rules because they don't want to offend the local population.

Because you have to be productive to be paid. Adults work to live. You like living as if you were still a child.

I like Parnassia’s answer. If staying home and inhabiting make believe worlds is your idea of a happy life, I agree that you do need to get out more, even if it is painful. You could become resistant, and then anxiety ridden about going out. This is not mentally healthy.

But your basic question sounds immature, as if it was being asked by a thirteen year old. Come on, use your brain. Figure out why you can’t sit at home all day playing games and still get paid enough to live.

I mean, you technically can, if you're like a video game blogger/vlogger, or get paid to play video games.

I know by your smilie at the end that you were a bit tongue-in-cheek, and know that it's an extremely small % of gamers that get paid anything, never mind enough to live on.

Not to bring politics into it, but this is what the "guaranteed basic income" would enable. Many are all for it!

That is normally brought up in the context of the time in the future that is coming when there really won’t be enough jobs for everyone. And the number that gets bandied about $1000 a month. That’s not going to enable anyone to stay home.
