Does anyone believe legalizing drugs for the good of the economy is something the state of California should do? Why did they not think of legalizing it before, maybe it would have helped the economy.

The point is that we have a major financial crisis, is it ok to legalize Marijuana for the sake of the economy? My opinion is if it was not ok before, it is not now!

Marijuana is already decriminalized in california, they've been trying to legalize it for a while. Theres no reason to keep marijuana illegal anyways, this is a step towards progress for California.

Come on, boys, narcotics is an international trade which all countries have embraced ever since its inception. Their fighting against it is only an illusion.

If we ever had the say omniscience to study its cross section, like a cell biologist does on his microscope, we will see all roads leading to Rome

Basically iot wil end up doing the same thing to califronia as it has to many south american countries. In fact like internet sales the producers there do not want it to be legal because that would ruin their dominance on the trade.

when you add the amount of money that is spent building new prisons, the cost of a prisoner per year, the cost of new staff for said prison, the cost of hiring more cops on the street to go after the potheads

It's in the billions if not more. They certainly will save a hell of a lot of money if they legalize it.

It should be completely legal. The laws don't prevent anyone from getting marijuana. When the Feds came in and closed all the med marijuana shops in my town, we lost tons of tax money. The people running the shops basically said they were some of the best tenants because the extremely high rents were always paid on time, they had strict rules about going in and out (no loitering outside, no one waiting in your car, etc, pretty strict and if you broke the rules, your privledges were revoked), PLUS they paid a ton in state and fed taxes. The shops are still vacant now 8 months later so the landlords lose, the state loses, the feds lose, and all the really sick people that are helped greatly by medical marijuana lose.

Default Medical Marijuana could be Calif's Salvation

The number ONE, that's # 1 CASH crop in california is marijuana! California is only one of several where it is the number one cash crop. Easy to grow, the demand is already more than the available demand so it is no problem getting it sold.
If the State puts a $50 tax per every ounce sold, it would take california out of the bind our dear Govenator has gotten us so much deeper into!
Ba Humbug, don't get mad, be glad because if they put the tax on, thwers won't be effected, only the dispenseries, any resale of it would be taxed. I'm for that as long as the dispenseries don't raise the prices because then us growers must raise our prices and it is already out of controll.
It is the best investment one can make right now! For under $25,000 one can start their own dispensery and hire several people and start makeing profits the very first month! It is an excellant way to pay our state out of the terrible financial mess and even get us ahead! Wouldn't that be nice if it came on the news that California is officially Out of Debt!
Ya right!

de criminalizing pot would be a great benefit not only to California, but to the entire country! Pot could be taxed, providing revenue, casual users would not be imprisioned, drug crime would be vastly lessened, drug cartels would be weakened. . . . quality and strength could be regulated. . . frankly, I do not see a "down" side!
