No, I wasn't referring to life span I am talking about "aging" which is kinda the decaying our body goes through as we get older. Me personally I wouldn't want to live long until the scientists figure out what causes aging and how it's possible to stop or reverse. When I am 60 it would be cool if I can jump around and stuff like I can today.

I look at my body as my 'earth suit' that is designed to house my 'eternal spirit'. It's okay with me that it gets slower with age.....just like any other machine. You can change the oil, give it tune ups and put some pretty paint on it.....but in the end....the mileage catches up with you.

I can see where this bothers or worries people who don't believe in an eternal life. As for me, all the wrinkles and aches are just a part of the process that gets me closer to the end result. An end result that I truly look forward to.

I wasn't trying to sound religious.....I was just trying to honestly answer the question. To me, wrinkles and stuff are like war medals. It shows I have gotten through my journey with wisdom and I never ever worry about flesh death. It's just a dusty earth suit I won't need forever.

Actually, researchers do know what causes BIOLOGICAL aging. I described it in short, tried to at least, in my post on the previous page.

Aging, biologically, cannot be stopped. However, in addition to any genetic factors, biological aging can be slowed via behaviors that avoid/limit "external" sources of ROS and via behaviors that increase exposure to anti-oxidants.

The above, however, only describes aging in terms of biology and science. As GloryB mentioned above, there also exist philosophical and spiritual elements to aging that cannot be explained via biology and science, but only through personal experience(s), shared experience(s), literature, culture, belief(s).

Okay. I did read more into the thread (I often over-think things).

Well, I think many people have died from the aging/decaying process over thousands, if not millions, of years. However, historically many died from battles, natural disasters, and physical conditions that couldn't be treated; for example, one mummy appeared to have died from an infected tooth absess.

I think food was a lot more pure due to the earth being richer in nutrients before depletion from population growth. As for eating habits, the 7th Day Adventists, who are mostly vegetarians, have the longest life-spans today and tend to be active.

Jack LaLaine is in spectacular physical condition for a man of 95. Granted, he has worked VERY hard to main that condition for many decades. But I can see that he isn't as agile as he used to be. Still, I would almost bet that he'll see 105. But I would NOT bet that something wouldn't go a little wrong. Unless it's by an accident, something would cause him to die.

But certain decaying diseases like cancer are NOT new. Mummies have been found with cancers inside them, and most of those preserved people were not particularly old.

And while we have an obligation to take care of our bodies, I think we can all agree that many health-conscious people still die early while others who are neglectful (by today's standards) just hang in there.
