Morals are a set of dynamic standards that people establish for the well being and welfare of society. Usually the most exalted member or members of a society, ie., Chiefs, Kings, Presidents, Popes, etc., have the supreme duty of determining what constitutes morality and conformity

Oh, I agree whole heartedly, we have a plethora of murders, rapist, pedophiles, thieves and scoundrels of all sort who don't give a rat's behind about societies blessings.

so, is your belief, that without big brother keeping eye on people, they would all just go nuts, and turn into killers and the like. --I just think better of my fellow Man.Good People are good people, not because Laws make them good. I would be no different if there were no laws at all. but If misunderstood your statement, excuse me.

I think morality comes from what can be summed up in a phrase by Jesus of Nazareth: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
The Golden Rule is probably older than religion itself, and it is the quintessential ethic of a social animal living in a tribe. What religion has done was to codify the many ways "you should do unto others" and to punish those who did not abide by the code. You can say the same of government.

I think humans adhear to things that give them the best chance to survive,no murder no stealing, if not it would be caotic.I do not think morals come from a god like entity.Do animals have a set of moral standards?I think a pack of wolves survives without morals but they seem to have their own laws.

the first thing you do, if you want a group of people to go kill another group,--is to tell them "it's OK, cause God is on your side"

I don't have the slightest clue how you made this latest leap in illogic.

Big brother? If you consider society, be it a family, a tribe of hunter gathers or a the government of a developed society big brother so be it, but absent social contracts between their respective members then yes, the absence of such a social contract humans possess, as history has amply demonstrated, all the necessary traits for anti-social and self-destruction behavior.

You think? Is it your argument that without your indoctrination, from infancy, in the rules, laws, or codes of social conduct that you would have, through the sheer force of genetics alone, been able to discern right from wrong? Somehow I seriously doubt that.

My Dear departed Mom took time to show me the beauty of Life. She showed by example Her love for all things living, and that everything was joined by a "life force" she simply called God. So as I grew and learned, I had no negative to have to over come. I felt I knew my place in the world, and just naturally respected other living things, as I did myself. ---Now that I am much older, My Moms love and wisdom have never let me down. Society's rules had nothing to do with my love of my fellow Man, and everything else on Gods green earth. Rules may change, but I never do. ---corny, but true.

Does this mean that the chief can do no wrong? or is it more a "Do as I say not as I do"? situation?

In support of the poster I'm quoting (who quotes another), not everything considered "immoral" reaches the level of a capital crime against humanity.
