Burial is only temporary. Eventually somebody is going to dig up your grave looking for something. King Tuts burial place was forever until somebody decided to dig it up.
Just what is perpetual care? What happens when the cemetery is full and no more money is coming in.
They pave over paradise and put up a parking lot.
Mostly it is more economical. When I did it I placed the ashes in a beautiful urn (from Homegoods) in the cemetary plot and the person's name on the stone. What does it matter what is under ground that no one will ever see?
My sisters wanted me to buy a burial plot in the same section of cemetery as their plots. I told them that I'd rather spend the money on something I can use while alive. If people want to remember me when I'm dead, they can lay back on a sofa and reflect on my idiotic antics. Truth is, no tombstone is necessary for recollection of the dead. Plus, a tiny patch of real estate will be available for the living to use... at least until someone else decides their dead body needs planting.
I would still like to be cremated despite what happened to my mother's ashes and over 9,000 other souls. a pilot who was contracted by the neptune society instead of flying the remains and scattering them, co mingled more then 9,000 people's ashes and dumped them in a heap on his property over years. when a neighbor stumbled on huge piles of ash the story broke. almost 30 years later there is still piles of ash. your loved ones should never have this happen to them. please make sure you or someone you trust handles your loved ones ashes. While cheaper than burial, cremation still costs a lot of money. I'd like to donate my body to medical research. My ultimate dream would be to go the Body Farm, laying in a field and rotting just sounds cool to me. But my wife thinks that is weird and my says she won't do it because it would creep out my son.
