You couldn't possibly be more wrong - ALL humans on the planet are paying for this irresponsibility. That's why open doorways are illegal in N.Y. City.

Pound for pound, A/C contributes to global warming, thousands of times more than carbon dioxide does. Our planet is being rapidly destroyed by ignorant, wasteful practices like this. Large coastal cities all over the world, will be inundated within this century by rising sea levels. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Why should one small building have FIVE open doorways, each one TWENTY feet wide and seven feet high?

I guess you've resorted to "cherry-picking" what posters to reply to... because a few did give valid reasons to why they do this and how it is not as completely wasteful as you think.

Sorry, you seem confused on this point.

All the heat that reaches earth from the sun, all the heat that originates inside the earth, and all the heat generated by all human activities combined eventually radiates out into space. The rate at which it does this is regulated by several atmospheric components, the chief of which is carbon dioxide (CO2). If the atmospheric CO2 is reduced, the amount of "greenhouse effect" is reduced, and the global temperature will drop. If the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere rises, as it has done gradually since the beginning of the Industrial Age, then it traps mor of the heat radiation and cause the global temperature to rise.

Air Conditioning powered by solar energy is net neutral. It affects nothing, because it does not emit CO2.

And to the specific complaint here, I agree, Disney widely uses air curtain technology on busy doorways in high traffic areas that is actually competitive with conventional doors for keeping the heat out, or the heat in, as the case may be at different times, in different parts of the world.
