Soda bottles: plastic or aluminum cans? (recycle, organic, buy, natural)

Which one has a lesser environmental impact? I realize the answer is neither, drink water.. I know plastic is horrible and you can recycle 100% or the aluminum cans but does the process of making those aluminum cans make them worse for the environment?
Aluminum is better for several reasons. It can be recycled almost indefinitely. Overall, aluminun products are lighter. There are some issues with aluminum and the metals that can enter the product the can contains, but if you're drinking soda, that's probably not your worry. Plastic contains dangerous chemicals such as PBA's which enter the product when exposed to heat, even for a brief period of time.
I think the best advice is to stay away from plastic at all costs when it comes to soda drinking. Glass & cans are the better way to go. Plus it really isn't necessary to buy soda in plastic bottles since glass & cans are pretty much sold anywhere you go.

Where do you live? I haven't seen a glass soda bottle in years...It might be a good idea to go back to a deposit on them.
Glass bottles can be found in a lot of places are often more expensive. Natural/organic food stores even sell milk in glass bottles. But back to the OP, plastic also requires much more resources and chemicals to make.

A lot of the fruit sodas (technically not sodas, I suppose) come in glass, like IZZE (love the stuff! ). Also soda companies like IBC and Stewart's come in glass bottles, they make root beer, cream, and float-type sodas.
Glass seems to be getting popular again, you can find a lot of options even in Target.
And when you're done drinking the soda, you can make a bottle tree!
