I don't know about the schools, but Salisbury has a wonderful teacher's store. I would travel to Salisbury just to go to that store. I had never seen anything like it before.

Unfortunately that store's closed. My wife taught at North Rowan and loved that place, too.

Why another thread on the same two towns? See: https://www.city-data.com/forum/green...salisbury.html

There is a teacher's store in Salisbury. I was there yesterday! I JUST got here (Thurs), so I don't know if it's a new store, but I went with a fellow teacher...

My commute is backwards! I am going from Meck county to Rowan county (10 miles from Salisbury). It is funny to watch the traffic on the opposite direction.
I got the small town job, but I am not a small town person! Therefore, I live by the lake and drive to the small town school where I teach.

The location is really nice. It is next to grants creek and the nature preserve at Catawba College that connects to the Salisbury Greenway system. FYI, the Center for the Environment at Catawba College sponsors numerous community events, activities, and outings related to the environment.

Catawba College Center For The Environment :: Home (http://www.centerfortheenvironment.com/ - broken link)

You can walk or bike from The Reserve, through the preserve to the College. As far as the homes and such I'm not sure, I've only seen the neighborhood from the greenway.
