I was so bummed! We walked past the booth that was offering fried apple pies before walking the rest of the festival, and then decided we'd stop back get a few before we left. They RAN OUT! The exact same thing happened to us last year at the Lincolnton Apple Festival. Argh!

Looks like there are those who have an interest in redeveloping a part of the town that died with the loss of the furniture industry, as well as an old train depot for possible service to Charlotte and Raleigh

Winston-Salem Journal | Old depot a key in plans for Lexington renovations (http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WSJ%2FMGArticle%2FWSJ_BasicArti cle&c=MGArticle&cid=1173353369180 - broken link)

Thats real cool thank you for sharing that silverwig.
I always like taking the back roads intown downtown from Talbert Blvd to Rail Road ST just so I can ride thru the tunnel. My friends would say why are you driving thru this plant and I would chuckcle.
You had to either blow your horn entering the tunnel or as you near it to let someone know you are coming thru. Often it was a site of fork lift driver.

That article has me thinking about those Mill houses if they actually might be wise investment.

The question now is whether the city can get people to move to downtown in an area with limited job prospects. Ideally, if they can start attracting folks who can commute to WS/HP/GSO then we're good.

My parents still live in Lex, and I would love it if their property value started going back up.
