My family and I are driving up from Greenville, SC for a swim meet (at the Aquatics Center) this weekend.
We have kids ranging in ages from 7-10 - all are adventurous eaters and not picky. What are some great local (kid friendly) restaurants? Looking at Tripadvisor, I'm interested in Sarah's Kabob Shop, Mythos Grill, Chef Samir Restaurant, some burger places (Hops, Big Burger Spot), and Lucky 32. Is Lucky 32 as good as it used to be? Any great, local Mexican restaurants? (Kiosco, Los Gordos, Monterrey, etc ?)
Thanks
(BTW, the Greensboro Aquatics Center looks amazing)
We go to Lucky 32 often. I recently moved back to Greensboro so I'm not sure how if WAS, but it's great now.
Mythos is one of my favorite lunch places. Not fancy, just good. My friends like Sarah's but I haven't been there yet. Hops is fun as well.
Would your kids like to eat with their fingers? Taste of Ethopia is really good for a nice change. I lived in DC for years, and learned to love Ethopian food. I was happily surprised to find it here.
Monterrey Mexican is a very good, inexpensive, very kid friendly place. The food is great.
Mytho's (two locations) is a great greek place....but it gets crowded on weekends, and unless you are there before 6 you'll have a wait.
Elizabeths Pizza(5607 W Friendly in Quaker Village) (There are a number of these, but this one is most kid friendly)
Bonus is Menchi's yogurt next door. Food is very good, it's usually not too crowded.
Lucky 32's ...It's a nice, pricey, non-kid friendly restaurant.
In Friendly Center there is a Newks, which is sort of like Panera, but I like it better. Their Mac n Chesse is great. I also love their Pimento Cheese Sandwhich.
oopps...forget Big Burger Spot you mentioned. It's near Monterreys. It is adjacent to a min-mart. It loses on looks...but the burgers are great. They do a fantastic job.
Thanks for the above suggestions - the family loves the Triad - my wife is originally from Greensboro - reminds us a lot of Greenville, SC (but much better roads in Greensboro!)
We tried Sarah's Kabob Shop - wow, didn't know what to expect entering the restaurant - everybody was extremely helpful (the menu is gigantic) - very good gyros - fantastic hand cut fries - amazing house dressing! falafel was disappointing (my wife liked it) - we compared SKS to Greenville's Pita House (also a #1 restaurant on Trip Advisor - the falafel at Pita House is much better) - anyway, SKS has some of the best service we've experienced in a long time
Today, we ate at El Camino Real for lunch - again, had idea what to expect when driving into the parking lot (almost empty) - but, several patrons eating inside - best salsa I've had in a long time (and we have the Asheville chain Papa's and Beer in Greenville with a salsa bar) - great lunch - authentic chile rellenos
We've been to several out of town swim meets - Greensboro Aquatic Center is the best venue we've seen

For Falafel, you should try Jerusalem Market in Sedgefield.
My second pick would be Jacks Corner by UNCG.
Thanks for the review on Sarah's! gonna have to give that place a go.
On down the road on Market, there is Nazareth Bread, I've not really tried that either, but heard good things.
