I agree. The one that really frosts me is "free range". Since when is a chicken roaming a coop with hundreds of other chickens considered free range????

That's an oxymoron. Right?

thanks. I was going to point that out that Greensboro has had a natural/organic grocery store since the 1970s long before the natural organic craze and the opening of Whole Foods in Winston-Salem. Winston-Salem is a Johnny Come Lately by about two decades. The only thing that has changed is that Deep Roots Market moved downtown, the Triad's first downtown grocery store in the modern era. I like to think of Deep Roots Market as a hybrid of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods but its more like a mini Whole Foods.

Well, if you want to go down this road, Ronnie's Country Store in downtown WS says "Hey!" They've been selling fresh produce, fruit, country hams, jams, jellies, pickles, honey, and all sorts of other natural things since 1925. Now who's the Johnny Come Lately?

Thank you, Arby. Most people have never even heard of Ronnie's. It is much like Mast, which is also coming to downtown Winston-Salem, with not only fresh produce, but candies, and meats. It definitely predates all others by not decades, but scores.

You don't mention organic products so now the "natural" grocer debate goes all the way back to the first grocery store. Why? Because anyone can claim nearly anything to be natural.

The point being that chains like Whole Foods do extensive studies of demographics before opening a store, as does Trader Joe's.....both of which are in Winston Salem and significantly pre-date Greensboro's stores....oops, I mean the singular since Trader Joe's backed out of opening in Greensboro.

Now you're just splitting hair to support your point.
