I live near Oak Ridge, and it's a very nice area with a range of housing options and prices.
Where to look partly depends on where in High Point your husband's job is. High Point ranges from big office parks on the NC side (most off of 68), to a "downtown" and south side of high point.
68 is a very congested road, and the commute from Oak Ridge to downtown or southern High point would probably be over 30 min.
Oak Ridge, Kernersville are great areas especially close to the North side of high point.
If I were working more downtown or on the south side of High point, I'd look very hard at Thomasville, and the rural county around there. Thomasville (known for their "big" chair") is a very nice small southern town.
What areas of highpoint would you recommend in the 225-280K price range? We're looking for diversity, middle/upper middle class professional area. Schools ARE an issue. Still not sure if we want something urban, suburban, or rural. We're very open to a wide range of possibilities. The greatest concerns are price, schools, and neighborhood demographics (e.g., professionals, educated, etc.)
