All true re: bbq and ethnic food, but I would counter that almost all of the best food in the Triad is at locally owned restaurants. Willow's, Mozelle's, Mary's, The Honey Pot, Sixth & Vine, Milners, Sweet Potatoes, Camino, Hutch & Harris, Ryan's (not to be confused with the chain Ryan's), Bernardin's, First Street, Grecian Corner, Mizu, Ise, Quiet Pint, River Birch Lodge, The Porch, Spring House, Foothills, etc. etc. etc. All of those, as far as I know, are locally owned, and all are delicious. And there are many more. In fact, I'm hard pressed to think of a chain I'd place above any of those.
