Last summer we planted a crape myrtle several gardenias and holly shrubs now all are almost dead. Is there anything we can do to save these holly shrubs?
I live in Northwest NC where it's a lot colder, but our hollies appeared to die after the winter of 2013-14. The leaves had never turned so brown before (been there for 15 years). I pruned them pretty aggressively in spring, and by summer, I was getting new growth again. By the end of the summer, they were back to normal. I'm no expert gardener, but that worked for me.
Yours don't look nearly as bad as ours did. You may just want to trim the dead branches and give them a little time to recover in warm weather.
I only see a few dead leaves. Other than that they look great. Nice variegated variety. I agree to only trim the really dead leaves.
