A new job opportunity is taking us to the Triad region very shortly. In looking to live in either W/S or Greensboro, I wanted to consider my 4 yo with Down syndrome.
Are there any particular schools/programs in the area that are especially suited for children with special needs? I believe in inclusive classroom environments, but also believe inclusion only really works when the child is given the necessary resources to be successful.
My internet search found "The Special Children's School" in W/S. Do most public schools in the region send their special needs children out of district to schools like this? Are they well-regarded?
The Special Children's School in W-S had a longtime, wonderful reputation when we lived in W-S. Although it's been more than 10 years, I have no reason to think that it's changed.
