I have lived here 20 years and have never seen the big palmetto type bugs like I have this year. Our pest control person said they have had a lot of reports in the triad. I thought when it got cold they went away and he said no actually they come in to stay warm and often live inside electronics. I saw a few back in the summer then no more but today I saw 3. I am freaking out and yes my home is clean and tidy too.

Calling it a Palmetto bug is just putting lipstick on a pig....Cockroaches are everywhere, tidy or not. Naturally, they prefer a smorgasbord, but will settle for decaying wood in the forest just as well.

Just curious why they are making an appearance this year after 20 years of ever seeing one unless I am visiting the coastal areas.
