Bottom line here (as with most hot issues) is with the language in the Constitution (& Amendments).
They were all well intended and based on circumstances 100, 150, 235 years ago.
The world has changed.
In this particular case, the first line in the first section of the 14th A is overly broad ...
with inclusive language intended for the freed slaves (and their children).
It served pretty well as we grew and expanded into the early 20thC.
That world, and those needs, don't exist any longer.
Similar is true with the 2nd Amendment...

It also warrants amendment.

So I'm wrong and you're right. Why doesn't this surprise me? I'm interested in your opinion, but I wonder if you couldn't make it a bit less opaque. Spit it out, we don't bite. Yes the world has changed, but our Founders were prescient men and they understood an excess of democracy to be of the gravest danger to our Republic. A populace unworthy of representative democracy. Think about it, what are the odds that you know the truth and they don't? Or the reverse. That their news outlets are fake and yours are real? Or the reverse. After the OP raised his initial concerns, at least as many subsequent posters agreed with him as disagreed. All wing nuts, spreading fear? But not you, of course. And through your extraordinary powers of perception, you knew immediately that he/she was a "racist". "Spreading Right Wing propaganda."
