Just wanted to get some opinions and see if there's any possible land Greensboro could use for a new shopping destination. Like another open air Friendly Center type of thing. Even if years from now.. or will Friendly Center be our only outdoor life style shopping center that Greensboro will have. Also I wish chains like Bath and body works and other smaller footprint chain stores would start coming downtown. Those are the retail type stores i'd be excited about downtown in the mixed use buildings. Maybe a mini target ! Because right now all the stores downtown are vintage or local made items that tend to run on the pricy side. I wish I had a crystal ball to see what will become of these older run down shopping centers like the Roses on Cone or the shopping center on summit where Mayberrys is. Will it still be there in say 2050!. That's some good prime real estate to just sit there with run down stores

I know a while back, by Rt 68 and Gallimore Dairy (which I believe is Greensboro) there was some talk of a bit of a higher end shopping center. There weren't many details and I think it's stalled or scrapped by now.

Not Greensboro but barely into High Point, I have a suspicion that the new Palladium South may go that direction. One of the anchors will supposedly be a grocery store but with a Harris Teeter and Food Lion literally right there, I could see it being a Fresh Market or Sprouts. Wegmans is the obvious dream (and I think this would be a great location for one), but I don't think Wegmans fits with the plans there as they're currently drawn.

That said, if Wegmans does show interest, you arrange other plans around them.

Yes now that u mention it I could see the South of the Palladium being Friendly Center version 2.0 !!! Will definitely be nice to have another open air shopping destination! I remember seeing the sign right across from Nappa auto on Gallimore dairy road advertising luxury shopping coming soon... Thought that was an odd spot for a luxury shopping destination lol..

Hope for 2 things in the Triad area. One another business park with small convention center & apartments. A an open market possibly not in Greensboro to avoid tapping into the Friendly Center. Something similar to the one in Mrytle Beach a village type layout with stores, restaurants (preferably local places), sidewalks, grocery store, green spaces, museum/science center (possibly) water (ponds/brooks), and center/gazebo/clamshell area for small local shows/summer events like movie nights.

Think there has to be abandoned commercial areas to avoid tapping into open land protecting the environment from urbanization. The old mall in High Point area would of been a perfect place. Some revitalization to downtown High Point by the ballpark.
