My wife and I will be moving to Triad area and need help. In terms of buying a home, we have been looking at Kernersville or Oak Ridge. We have three daughters 6, 2, and 2 months. We would prefer a small private Christian school if possible. Any help on locations of good schools as well areas to avoid. Thank you in advance.

My husband and I are also transferring to the area next summer. We have four kids 16, 13, 7 and 4 mos. We fell in love with the Oak Ridge area (Chris Daughtry just built a house there ). The public schools are very highly rated. I am not sure about christian schools. I would contact the closest church of your denomination and ask them I am sure they would be more than willing to give you feed back. Also make sure you visit the area before moving...something may look good on paper but not suit your personality.

Thanks for the replies. I'm curious to see now if property values decline or increase based on Daughty moving in. Just kidding. We will continue to look around. Someone suggested even looking into the Clemmons area in Winstons Salem.

What are the schools like there?

The public schools in the Clemmons area are very good. Clemmons (especially the north Davidson County side) is our number one choice right now. I don't know anything about the Christian schools. Sorry.

You can check school report cards here:

Christian schools I am familiar with in the Clemmons/N Davidson area are:

Calvary Baptist Day School

Center Grove Christian Academy

Union Grove Christian School this link includes links to other Christian schools in the area.

Clemmons is an excellent choice. Clemmons has become quite Upscale. The Forsyth County area of Clemmons is more Upscale than N. Davidson and the schools in Forsyth County (Clemmons) are just as good as N. Davidson.

You can be in the Hanes Mall area in 10-15 minutes and Downtown Winston-Salem in about 15 minutes

Good Luck!

Shannon...just following up on your move to the Triad. Did you make the move yet? Our market has slowed down but it has not stopped. In fact it has begun to pick up in April. Things are looking good. Let me know if you need assistance. Thanks!

Oak Ridge is a small but growing community and seems to be thriving. It is clean, it is quaint and a great place to raise a family. As far as a small Chrisitan private school there is not currently one located in Oak Ridge. There are several however, within the city limits of Greensboro. Let me know specifically what you are looking for in a school and I can direct you further. For example, grade level, demographics, scholarship opps, tuition costs, etc.
