What I was told was there was a gentlemans agreement that Spinx would stay in SC and QT would stay in GA and Mr. Spinx went back on his word and crossed into GA along I85 and The guy that owns QT made it his mission to squash them....which is exactly what they are doing.

Where can I find more information about this? They are popping up like crazy.

There may be some degree of truth to this story, but the more likely scenario is the GSP market is a natural infill since QT was already in ATL and CLT.

QT expanded into Charlotte and GSP markets about the same time, as a move north from Atlanta in about 2012. It will be interesting to see if they move into Hendersonville or Asheville. But the alleged deal with Spinx to stay out of each others territory is also similar to a rumored agreement with Publix and Harris Teeter. But Publix backed out of that agreement and is now aggressively expanding into NC, and Harris Teeter is returning to Greenville.
Interesting...a friend who lives in Midtown Atlanta said they were going to be building a QT near her but without the gas station, just a convenience store. Just curious if this has been done by QT before, as I've never seen one without a gas station.

Interesting...QT will build just a convenience store concept in the bottom floor of a high rise in Midtown. It makes sense in that area, provides needed items plus some quick foods.
I noticed the Marathon Kangaroo gas station on the corner of Woodruff Rd and Verdae closed its door. It looks like QT is going to monopolize this are. There seems to be nothing to stop them. Once they open a new Gas Station. It just a matter of time the smaller one down the street or across the street close its doors. I realize the Spinx on Butler Rd off I385 used to be very busy all the time. Then when the QT across it opened a few weeks ago, that Spinx became butter on a plate. Not just Spinx that is in trouble. It is very well most smaller Gas station that are too.

QT just offers better service, plain and simple. I've been to Oklahoma where they are based and virtually on every corner. Their prices are nearly the same as prices here so if they do monopolize, I don't see it hurting the consumer.
Also QT hires way more people than a Kangaroo station does. A typical QT probably has 5-7 people per shift, while Kangaroo may have 2.
