Manufacturing rules....everything from planes, cars, tires, buses etc.! If you have a manufacturing background or don't mind working for $8 or $9 an hour you should be ok in Greenville. If not........well you get the point!

Greenville is a much better choice. It is hot in the summer; not as humid as Fl.
Asheville is much colder and snowier in winter.

Woodruff Road, Highway 14 and Pelham area.......that is where I am during rush hour so that is what I am considering.

Not to mention the interstate...yes, not bottlenecked big-city traffic by any means, but considering that you can often find yourself as one of only a few cars on the Interstate in the Asheville area at any given time, there is considerable MORE traffic here than Asheville.

The ONLY two times in one year that I was EVER in stopped-n-wait-n-go-no-wait traffic in Asheville was:
1. When I had the misfortune of being there the same time as Obama visited....not that there was that much overall traffic but just that everyone had to stop and no movement at all if he was driving by and several roads closed.

and

2. Made the mistake of driving by the WNC State Fair on a Friday night.

On the other hand, having only been here in Greenville just under a month,*there have been several times that I made the mistake to be driving during rush hour and had "traffic". Good Friday on Woodruff....ugh, took me 45 minutes to get from Highway 14 down to Trader Joe's.

When comparing Greenville to a big city, saying "rush hour traffic" IS laughable, but the conversation is about comparing Greenville to Asheville, and Greenville has by far more traffic issues.

I agree, the places you mentioned are the places I HATE to go on weekends, or during rush hours. hopefully they come up with a solution to the woodruff rd problem. its something thats been hashed and rehashed by those here on the msg boards.

Woodruff is pretty bad anytime of the day so I can imagine what it was like on Good Friday! I only go to Pelham for On The Border so just jumping off the hwy and there, no traffic problems yet.
I hope you didn't think I was picking on you. I am pretty laid back about traffic here since I come from an area where we always quote distances in minutes rather than miles because of the insane traffic.

Hey no town is perfect!

I have lived in both states myself & find NC overall more likeable but when it comes to Asheville VS Greenville I'll take Greenville & visit Asheville on the weekends.
