Hmmm...interesting:

According to site plans filed with the county, the automaker plans to overhaul a 19.8-acre site surrounding its existing parts distribution warehouse.

Expansion work encompasses the addition of a building more than 100,000 square feet attached to the existing warehouse. MOD CUT.

Source: Expansion engines revving at automaker, while BMW officials stay mum on details | GoUpstate.com I'd give it 6 hours until this thread is full of haters saying they only hire temp workers and pay $2 an hour.

Not necessarily, although BMW is doing quite well globally right now, and the better they do the more cars they produce the more people they need - so that is a good sign.

I've heard rumors at work. We have a few BMW contracts although most of what we do is aerospace related. Nothing concrete but I have a hunch they're looking to expand, albeit doing different work from assembly (hint).

The rumors have to do with information on page 3 in the article. It's no secret Bimmer wants to bring more work to the area, it just takes time.

BMW has a lot going on right now. Here are just a few things:

1: They are currently hiring approximately 500 permanent BMW associates from the pool of temps they currently have on staff.

2: There is talk about an expansion to add a 4th model to the plant, a lot of people are guessing a 3 or 5 series. (this is not a rumor, it is actually being discussed inside of BMW, they just have not made a decision yet)

3: Many areas of the plant are adding shifts or making the current shifts longer in order to run more hours per day and more days per week. (They were not producing enough vehicles to meet demand)

I work in the plant and have heard these things from members of management or supervision.
