Interesting. So I decide to wait until a separate issue is resolved and now I'm told I may be sued for reporting a crime.
Sorry it turned out to be so complicated. When you have many laws working together--and against each other sometimes--it can get messy, that's for sure. Sometimes a fantastic new hobby or even volunteer work can be a good distraction from something like this, and I'm only half kidding!

Anyway, best of luck to you, too!

Thank you. With your intelligence, drive and consideration of others you'll do great in legal world.

You can't be at risk of a malicious prosecution suit. You're not a prosecutor.

I was told by an attorney on one of the legal sites that what he did was Mail Fraud and it's obviously a Federal offense. So if I contacted the FBI and they decided to press charges I'll be off the hook for any law suits?

I'm looking at this from two angles: Do I report a crime like a good citizen or do I just move on, since I lost nothing over it. Do I want to go down to the other party's level or rise above the incident and move on? Will I feel good knowing that I turned in a relative for a crime that caused me no damage? There's even a chance the FBI may not even bother with this for the above reasons.

Thank you for your response, CUTiger. I have to give this some serious thought over the weekend.

Move on. Life is short. Focus on positive things.
