My husband and I just put an offer in on a house that was accepted (Yay!) and before we send the final contract back we want to run it by a lawyer, which of course we don't have yet. Does anyone know a really good real estate lawyer who is reasonably priced?
Noon and Hammett - I think I still have a coupon on my file that could be used if you're interested. I found her (Meredith Noon) on my own, I didn't want to use someone the RE recommended, I have a thing about that.
Very reasonably priced IMHO. I would use her again if the need arises.
Here's my post on my home buying experience. Hope yours is a good and positive one!
We purchased our home in September and used Dan Farnsworth, 2 Williams St in Greenville.
His phone number is 864-250-9119. His staff was friendly and very efficient, and he answered our questions in non-legal English. I highly recommend him.
Scott Lawrence is in downtown Greenville and is awesome! 864-527-5944 and he can drive out to you for the closing. Also, if you need a lender call Kelly Stephens @ 864-527-5925!
I'm using E. Scott Sanders Law. Scott's been patient with me. I've submitted a dozen or more offers for his review. He made a good suggestion regarding making sure my deposit money was protected and would be returned if I decided the building inspection wasn't satsifactory (and not just returned if the seller's also agreed to return it which is how the standard contract reads). When he made that suggestion with the first offer, I immediately felt he'd be good. Here's his website: E. Scott Sanders, LLC • Home Page

I made sure that the same was put on any contract we had on a home. The first two homes didn't pass inspection/wasn't satisfactory, and I of course, got my money back. I would think any reputable real estate agent would make sure that was in the contract.
I second Scott Lawrence in downtown Greenville, very easy to work with.
