I'm loving this milder winter so far, and I hope it's a trend that will continue until March. I'm a little leery of February, though. It's been the worst month every year that I've lived here.

I would like one decent snow so my grandkids could use the plastic sled I bought them for Christmas. They were sledding down their driveway in a laundry basket but are getting too big for that now. :-)

I really don't know if I can deal with more bugs in the summer. My poor Northern heart is missing the snow so much right now!

Temps this year have mostly been in the 50s but we haven't had the usual stretch of cold days so the average has been a little warmer than usual. There haven't been any of the really warm spells that we occasionally get - temps in the low 70s. Last year was very cold. The heating costs were rough. It seems a little rainier than the past few winters but warmer winters are usually associated with wetter ones from what I remember.

We still have plenty of time for the cold stuff.

I'm sure there will be bad weather of Biblical proportions February 9-11; that's when we're coming for a visit!

I am hoping you are wrong but I am having a hard time believing we will escape this winter without any real winter weather. I don't think there has yet been a single year in the 8 years that we've been here that we did not have a school snow day. My children have had more snow days down here in 8 years than they had in 9 years in Chicago.

Well, you know they say we are in the middle of the 'Bible Belt'.

I'm with you on that. Well both things, the bugs and the snow. Last year it felt like we had a little winter, which I like. This year is bizarre. It's almost shorts and t-shirt weather today, January 27th. I enjoy the spring so much more after a good winter.

Agreeed. The daffodils in our yard are blooming already and my allergies are starting to kick in. I got a whole month free. . I believe we are done with "winter".

Blooming already? If it gets cold again that will help stretch their blooming season.
