I hate to lose an HQ but from a personal perspective I never shop at Bi-Lo when I'm visiting Greenville. Their stores used to feel newer and cleaner than they do now. I guess they cater to a certain demographic, but I am not it.
Good luck to them in salvaging their brand along with Winn-Dixie, which is in far worse shape.
It is worth an extra $10 a week to shop in a clean and pleasant environment that Publix has versus the nastiness of Wal-mart. Plus, the employees seem to want to be there at Publix.
For me it is. I used to shop Walmart, but it's such a hassle. Then I went to Bloom until the moved out and sometimes to Ingles. But I now use two programs, e-mealz and Food on the Table. They both give you a recipe/grocery list based on sales at Publix.
Shopping at Publix is such a pleasant experience. Never thought I say that. I also do most of the shopping and my wife is very happy!
Today's Publix price on OM Bacon $6.49/lb while at Walmart it's around $4.49 but I now buy Smithfield, which Walmart has for $3.99 or less always. A bag of Tyson Chicken Strips at Publix is $8.49 while Walmart has the same bag for $6.99 or less. I buy 2 of each on each Walmart trip and on those 4 items alone I save $10. Add all the other stuff I save on at Walmart and the savings add up. With an unemployment rate of 9.3% many in this state can't afford to shop anywhere but Walmart. I find Bi-Lo's prices to be higher than Publix overall.
Sure you can compare some items one on one and Walmart will come out cheaper. But if you tailor your grocery needs to the Buy One Get Ones that Publix has, plus double coupons, you will save at Publix.
I do shop at Walmart for staples such as toilet paper, soap, etc... Unless Publix has a BOGO on it.

I'm poor and usually only Publix when I get a $5 off $30 coupon in the mail!
