Can anyone give me some info on the Gray Court area to buy a home & live? Is it dull or far away from shopping, work ect.? It's not my first pick. But when i consistanly look at homes for sale on sites. The homes i like or want are sold pretty quick & the list is becoming smaller & smaller!! I have also noticed that a lot of homes for sale are in the Gray Court area. So that makes me wonder why. Is it an area to avoid if possible? Or is it a decent place? Thanx for any responces!!!

It is more of a rural small town flavor than the outlying suburbs, even much smaller than Fountain Inn. It's not too far from shopping - about 15 minutes from Simpsonville's main shopping drag. Not much shopping right in town except for convenience store style and a few small shops. Figure that it adds an average of 15 extra minutes of travel time to any destination in the Greenville area. But might be convenient if you happen to work at ZF Transmission.

I don't know about the reason that there might be many houses for sale, other than Laurens County has been hit hard by the economic downturn, combined with the exodus of textile plants from 1990-2000. The ZF Transmission plant is a huge development for Laurens County.

Laurens District 55 schools are not highly thought of either.

Default Gray Court

Gray Court has been a great place and location for living for the past 4 plus years. We moved from Orland Park Ill in 1994 to Greer, SC. For 14 years we lived near Brushy Creek road in Brushy Meadows. We decided to avoid the traffic and noise and find some quiet with room to spread out. Now we live about 1 and half miles from the Greenville county line and our real estate taxes are much lower. We are 2 miles from 385 and my wife can get to work within 25 minutes to haywood road exit. We have over 3 acres with great sunsets, woods and a creek. Our house here is full brick built in 2008 and with quality brands and materials. I love this area so much, I was able to purchase nearly 14 acres of beautiful gently rolling hard wood on 10 of the acres and prairie on 4. I plan to build another home here in Gray Court and enjoy the beautiful country but yet a quick nearly non stop drive into greenville. We drive about 10 or so minutes to Fairview in Simpsonville where the stores are. Sum up there is great beauty and opportunity for the right properties in Gray Court !!!

Well, I graduated from Lauren's High many years ago. My relatives still go there. It is a little further out, but if rural is what you want, you should at least check it out. I grew up in Lauren's County but moved to Greenville after graduating because at that time there was nothing there or in Simpsonville but farm land. Things have changed! Simpsonville really grew & Ft. Inn is still growing. It just depends on what you are looking for.
