No need. The downtown is not that crowded, and there is plenty of available parking.
What if there is an event or it's Friday/Saturday night when you have the influx of people? Traffic gets worse when it's already usually busy and you're almost not going to have a choice but pay to park. Wouldn't you like to have the option not to have to pay for gas and a parking fee just to visit the area?

The only time I really would prefer a train or bus is when I go out to drink downtown. I miss that about Clemson.... when could walk, take the university shuttle or the Catbus to get downtown and back and not have to worry about designated drivers. If we drink downtown in Greenville, we have to have a DD or take a cab back which isn't that bad but they need to have vans so bigger groups can take less cabs back.

Yeah I absolutely love that about Clemson...I've actually thought about moving there with the bus service being a major factor.
To be honest, probably no to both. While I want better public transportation in greenville, I personally have no need for it. I used to ride a bus everyday for work though so I do see its value, and I might ride it on an occasion that I couldn't drive myself home from Greenville to Easley.
I personally would not as I could probably get downtown a lot faster on my own than going through every stop along the way. Compared to where I used to live, both traffic and the cost of parking downtown seems super reasonable.
