Spartanburg or Greenville? Potential job is in the area. I don't mind a potential 30 min commute.

Any suggestions of where to live so I could easily experience the social life either has to offer? My rent range is $900-$1100. My work schedule will be hectic, so I'm hoping for an area where I will easily be able to relax and meet new people

thanks!

Greenville. Greenville. Greenville. And, live as close to downtown as possible. For your demographics, all other cities in the Upstate pale in comparison.

Downtown Greenville is my recommendation as well. Join face-to-face social networking groups in town like PULSE, Tech After Five, and the Downtown Symphony Club. Attend creative events like Food For Thought, TEDx Greenville, Pecha Kucha Night, InnoVenture, Euphoria, and any other opportunities for professional and cultural enrichment you discover along the way.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT!!!!! move to spartanburg. ESPECIALLY as a young female. Greenville has bad areas but you learn to avoid them quickly and usually feel relativity safe. Agreed about living downtown, although its almost impossible to find apt./condo openings. If you find one, jump on it.

Lol Anybody saying Spartanburg over Greenville, they are crazy.

And saying Spartanburg is less crime than Greenville, a joke.

Sorry but Spartanburg is a great place to live !!! And Laura they both are nice in there on way. And Sojones I am far from crazy. You posters again need to quit bashing Spartanburg. Obvious you all have nothing better to do. If you do not have anything nice to say please do not say anything at all. Leave Greenville sometime and you might find that their are other great place just down down I-85. I moved to Spartanburg from Atlanta and I love it. And please do not compare the crime thing, that will come back to bite you. Watch the local news, no one can point fingers concerning crime. Have a great Monday !!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I'm potentially relocating to SC and when I asked for recommendations downtown Greenville was the only answer I received. I was curious about young professional groups and your answer was tremendously helpful. Especially because I won't know anyone there. Maybe there should be a City Data meetup I've found lots of good info on here.
