Better restaurants? You have a good number of chains in the Greer area plus many local restaurants. There are many places that could boast less.
Downtown Greer has at least three, if not four restaurants that could be considered fine dining and could easily compete with some of Downtown Greenville's. Hwy 29 is not the be all, end all of the Greer area.
Kohl's at Piedmont Marketplace is still a go. Constuction has been delayed with new stores in Easley (Pickens County) and Greenwood opening.
Cook-Out is opening a free standing location with double drive through lanes and outdoor dining at 1353 West Wade Hampton Boulevard, between Goodwill and Dill Creek Commons.
International House of Pancakes, IHOP, will anchor a strip center at West Wade Hampton Boulevard and North Suber Road, diagonally across from CVS.
I agree with the restaurants. Monterrays, and Fatz are always packed. Then you head downtown and Strip Club, Oyster House, and Wild Ace are packed. A couple of middle of the road non fast food joints would be great. I personally would love an Outback, an Italian place (not Olive Garden), and something low key like a McCalisters.
An Outback Steakhouse would be nice.

That is correct. The entire store is getting a renovation exterior and interior.
No activity to report on Kohl's at Piedmont Marketplace on West Wade Hampton Boulevard. The for lease sign in the vacant Kmart space remains present. If Kohl's is committed to locating here, the for lease sign would have been removed. Everything else in this retail center is vacant. Tractor Supply Company continues to do well for its niche.
Harrison's Workwear at Collins Corner on East Wade Hampton Boulevard closed recently. The chain has added new stores in Asheville and Greensboro in North Carolina. Its Mauldin and Spartanburg stores have more room to utilize its needs and offer more than what Greer did.

In late April greertoday.com reported that Kohl's is still planning to open in the old Kmart building. It has just been delayed until sometime next year.
The Lighting Center is closing. Also, I agree with Valien. Mr. Salsa is the best Mexican restaurant in the area.
