How long until the SCDOT fixes the interstate lighting on I-85 in the western part of Greenville County? I say 10 years. How about you all?

I'm not saying it was definitely because of me, but I tweeted to the governor about the months-uncut grass on the side of 385 by Woodruff Road, and it was mowed two days later. So maybe try tweeting the Governor with a picture of the lights not working.

As soon as South Carolina residents pay for such improvements. People who brag about the low taxes aren't allowed to complain about crappy services.

“At some point in time we have to address revenue going to DOT,” Leatherman was quoted as saying in a report by Greenville News writer Tim Smith. “There is just not enough money going over there to do what needs to be done.”

Lawmakers are looking for a route to sustainable funding for the state's road system, but they'll remain lost until they face the reality that big infusions of money are needed, not small annual doses.

Several Republicans in the House have proposed raising the SC gas tax five cents. I think most people would agree that an increase is necessary, since it has been the same rate since 1989. My only caution would be is that the money is used directly to improving our road infrastructure.

Why does the western portion need interstate lighting? If any area of the county needs more lighting its the eastern portion from Laurens Rd-85/385 interchange-Pelham Rd-GSP. Seems like more accidents occur along that stretch.

I thought poor Interstate lighting was only specific to Charlotte, glad to see we share the misery.

You are supposed to have lights on your car.

And they're supposed to work which they do unlike the ones located along the interstate. Why pay to build something if you're not gonna keep it working and up to date?

I have never understood the need for lighting on highways. The lights cost money to install, maintain, and power. They add to light pollution. Your car headlights are sufficient on rural highways - why light up highways in cities?

I'd rather see that money spent re-paving roads or other more useful projects.
