We did a blind move 6 years ago- no house, no jobs, no friends/family in the area. I had never visited and my husband had passed through just a couple times during his college years. It can be done- but it's not easy. I would definitely heed others advise and at least visit.
As for healthcare- there seems to be a hospital on every corner so that's a plus.
As for electrician... that's another story. I would agree, there is building going on. Finding a job seems to be difficult. My father in law- a master electrician and former Colorado State electrical inspector (whose standards are MUCH MUCH higher than the ones set by SC) has not been able to find a job since he moved here several years ago. A lot of it is true in, "who you know," and being new to the area hasn't helped. That said, I wouldn't say it's impossible, just know the competition is VERY stiff.
