Noticing light displays starting before Thanksgiving Day in November and ending after New Year's Day in January, I can see "holiday" lights to encompass multiple holidays. If the light displays are focused solely on the Christmas theme, then they should be "Christmas" lights.

What other holiday has been historically represented in American/western culture with lights? Do people decorate their house with St. Patricks Day lights, or Arbor Day Lights, how about Fathers Day Lights? Holiday is a stupid euphemism for Christmas because the word Christ offends some people. I kept seeing these commercials that said, "This holiday...." to which I would immediately respond, "which holiday"? There's no such holiday called "holiday". It's political correctness run amok. What's next, will the pc police start calling a menorah a Holiday Candelabra?
It has less to do with correctness and more to do with money. We christians need to go back to making significantly more money than these unbelievers so that businesses will no longer care about being PC! Can I get an AMEN?!
Its ridiculous how much of a deal about this people make. I've never been to a lights display that didnt include a turkey, a big menorah and something with New Years. I don't say happy holidays because I'm being pc, I say it because I mean happy holidays, plural. Depending when I say it i mean thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, boxing day, and New Years. I don't get offended when others say merry Christmas, quit whining.
I don't care if they call them Christmas lights, holiday lights, or whatever. However, I do want to point out that, contrary to one of the above posts, Hanukkah is also called "the festival of lights".
Was just waiting to see if this year would be a little different....kudos to Sophiasmommy for not starting the usual holiday rant and rave around Halloween. If not for someone else starting up, it may have been a quiet "holiday" season.
Happy Holidays to All, past present and future.
