Does anyone have any feedback on Time of use or time of day pricing plans from their power company? I am currently with Blue Ridge Electric Coop and live in Easley. Just wondering anyone's experience in this area with similar plans? Did you save money or not?

We have Duke. Never even heard of such a thing from them. I know a friend in Upstate NY that had such a thing so they could exist.

I have Duke Energy and have a load control meter which credits $8 per month for 4 months (I think it's May-August) and allows them the option to reduce my available power in the event of a critical need. In the 19 years I've lived at my current location I don't think they have ever needed to reduce my power. At the time I signed up for this program I could have chosen a time of use savings where I agreed to only use certain appliances such as washer/dryer/dishwasher between 11 pm and 7 am, or something like that in exchange for a similar bill credit. You could only choose one savings program at the time. They may not offer these programs to new customers. I may not even still be on the program.

Last fall I received a notice that my meter needed to be replaced because it had stopped working. Apparently if the meter malfunctions and does not send a reading to the billing system they estimate the usage until they can schedule a person to come and check the meter. They said that I had not been billed enough and they spread the difference over the next 3 months and installed a new meter. I never actually talked to anyone, so I don't know if the new meter is a load control meter or not.

We have Duke Energy and I just looked up the other day how we could save. I know if you use less electricity during peak hours, it will help. In the winter (Oct1-May 31), peak hours are 7AM-1PM Mon-Fri. In the summer (June 1- Sept 30) 12PM-6PM.
