Greetings! I've been here for a year now and am due for a cleaning and will need some extensive dental work. I'd love to find a dentist who is experienced and reasonable. What is the going rate for a crown here? I think I'm going to need one.

I love the area, the weather and the people. SC is home.

This is a great forum. Active too-I'm glad I found it.

I think we paid about $800 for my husband's crown about 2 years ago with a doctor downtown. Where our Greer dentist referred us to.

Default Good dentist - down to earth

Brian Wiiliams Ashby Park Lane. I have spent many days in a dental chair! He is kind, gentle and cares about his patients.

Talking dentist shopping

I, too, am looking for a reasonable, decent dentist. We have the state dental plan and from what I can see, you have to shop around for the cheapest rates since the plan is only going to pay a certain amount and we will have to pay the difference. Do the dentists really vary that much in their charges for cleaning and exam and xrays?

Dr. Kim Capehart in Simpsonville is an excellent dentist though not cheap.

You can spend less on crowns ($400 vs $800) at Crowns Now on Woodruff Rd.

I'd driven by Dr. Capeheart's office and visited his website. Both are very nice, but I've never seen cars at the dental office when I've gone by. "Crowns Now" sounds a bit like drive through dentistry, no?

Default Not sure of the cost but ins pd 100%

We go to Julian Thomas off Butler Rd. Very nice office and pleasant. I just went for a cleaning though, nothing extensive. They also gave me a bag leaving the office packed with stuff, not sure if it was because it was around Christmas time or not.

We had looked into Dr. Capehart, as well as Upstate Smiles. Both websites where nice, but my husband stopped into Dr. Thomas's and the office was similar to our old dentist so we chose him.

It was hard leaving my dentist in FL though, they gave massages and paraffin hand treatments as part of the visit which made it more pleasant to visit the dentist.

My husband had a crown done at Crowns Now in October. Said they were really great. And could not beat the price. Plus the Crown has a warranty, can't remember off hand how long of a warranty..........
Anyway, that is the route I would go for your crown. We do not have great dental coverage so Crowns are not covered at all. So the savings really helped us alot.
But we too will need to find a dentist for our other services.
Good Luck, just thought I would throw in my 2 cents on Crowns Now.
